It may have been a stinker, but today's Cactus League opener was refreshing nonetheless. Hearing Pat and Ron on WGN for the first time in months was more than enough to warm the soul on a rainy day in Chicagoland.

Carlos Zambrano makes his debut tomorrow in a game that will not be on the radio or TV.

I had logged into gameday audio ~10 min early for the game and contunied to work, forgetting about the silence that was the pre-game. At about 2 min after 2, with my speakers on way too loud for the office, I heard a familiar voice brighten my day..."CHICAGO CUBS BASEBALL IS ON THE AIR"

How about some details, Phil? Comments? Observations? Essays? Coherent thought? So far all I have read has been fluff, filler, and rambling nonsense. You have had lots of opportunities to expand on some ideas but so far no substance.

Very disappointed.

So far, Im not impressed. Bring Derek back. Please. Cub Town is a blog that used to be a standard for me, but not any more. Its bringing the Toaster down.

Yeah, I'm not sure I could disagree more, poultryman. Profound posts of prodigious content are nice occasionally, but it's also nice to have something new to read consistently.

IMO, Phil's done a great job of keeping us up-to-date on what's happening around Cubdom. If he hasn't said something, it's because there's not much to say. It is the first game of ST after all.

Derek seems to be taking a well-deserved break, and Phil has filled in fine. Lighten up.

2 I'm always open to constructive criticism, so thanks as well, I suppose. Your opinion is, indeed, your opinion, and I both accept and respect that.

As for yesterday's game, there isn't much to discuss. Marquis pitched well, nobody was hitting, and most of the game was played by kids with little to no chance of making the Opening Day roster.

But feel free to chime in if I missed anything important. Comments are welcome.
