It’s happened again. Ron Santo was not elected to the Hall of Fame. Both he and Gil Hodges received 52 votes, 8 shy of the total needed for induction. I wasn’t expecting him get in - the Veteran’s Committee as currently arranged isn’t exactly designed to add more members to the club - but that doesn’t mitigate the disappointment.

It would have been lovely to see both Santo and Sandberg at that podium in July, but we’ll have to settle for Ryno sans Ronnie. I suppose the Cubs will have to fill the void for Santo the only way they can - win that ring, baby.
