Where Have You Gone Joe Borowski-o?
2005-06-29 11:41
by Derek Smart

I could see it coming, and hell, I even advocated it, but it doesn't mean I can't be sad that the Cubs designated Joe Borowski for assignment today.

I've always liked and rooted for Joe, but as much as I wanted him to come back this year and succeed, it's been clear from the outset that what he had back in 2002 and 2003 was simply gone.

I fear it has disappeared forever, but I sincerely hope that wherever he ends up, be it in the Cubs' organization or somewhere else, that he can beat the odds and find it again.

But barring that, I hope he can at least find peace with his fate, which if you think about it, isn't so bad. After all, how many folks get a chance to be on a Chicago Cubs playoff team, while making some good money playing the best game in the world besides?

Good luck Joe. Thank you. You did good. And if we don't see you again, know that you are missed.

Adieu, Adieu. Parting is such sweet sorrow.

I've always considered JoBo a great guy, but since 2003 there's been this nagging feeling that he's showing the signs of being one of those marginal guys who juiced up to break into the bigs. I'm not accusing him of such, I just think that going from Mexican League to MLB closer and then mysteriously losing velocity and developing arm problems when the steroid controversy surfaces...nah, not him.

We love you Joe, and good luck wherever you land.

It is only a matter of time until the "sweaty Joe" Borowski vintage replica jerseys become the hit of wrigleyville...Good Luck Joe!

Dont forget guys that Joe also has something that very few cubs have, a world series ring. A few months in the bigs with the yankees in 99 got Joe the grand prize. As for joe juicing up Sandus dont be a fool. First of all Joe is not muscular he is big and second his rise to 02 closer is more a matter of hard work and perceverence than drugs. You should be ashamed of yourself. Please dont worry about Joe , he has been down before.
